What if you could see clearly all day without glasses or contact lenses, without surgery? That is the principle of orthokeratology (ortho-K), offered at Dr Oulehri Hassan’s practice in Fez, Morocco. Particularly useful for myopia, it also helps slow myopia that is progressing in children.
What is orthokeratology?
Ortho-K uses special rigid lenses worn only at night. During sleep, they gently reshape the surface of the cornea. On waking, you remove them and vision stays clear all day.

Ortho-K and myopia in children
In many children, myopia increases every year. Orthokeratology is one of the recognized solutions to slow this progression, while freeing the child from glasses during the day. An assessment checks whether the child is a good candidate and regular follow-up supports the treatment.
For whom?
Ortho-K is mainly suited to low to moderate myopia, in children as well as adults. A complete examination (including corneal topography) confirms the indication and rules out contraindications.

Is it painful? No, the lenses are worn at night and are generally well tolerated.
